The Illinois Learn to Hunt program is collaborative effort between the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Illinois Natural History Survey designed to bolster a declining hunter population in Illinois. Hunter Recruitment technicians are needed to plan, organize, and conduct outreach events aimed at mentoring and educating adults on the specifics of hunting. Technicians will assist with all aspects of the Illinois Learn to Hunt program’s research including, but not limited to, event planning and hosting, marketing, data entry and analysis, and curriculum development.
Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, wildlife, recreation, or related field and familiarity with hunting and hunting culture required. The individual must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for a Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card. Experience with event and outreach planning, computer graphics and statistical software are preferred, but not required. This position requires a strong commitment to outreach, strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a meticulous responsibility to safety protocols. Weekend and overnight travel required.
