- The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill a Wildlife Technician vacancy in Bangor. BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The IFW Resource Technician assists in the implementation of the Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry’s Bureau of Parks & Lands (BPL) wildlife program. The position is responsible for working with the Public Lands Biologist to ensure wildlife habitat objectives are incorporated and achieved in the Bureau’s management of public lands, including acquiring data, providing information, and contributing to the wildlife component of management plans. Responsibilities of the position are statewide and include assisting with species inventories, assisting with identifying, evaluating, and mapping of important wildlife habitats, assisting with advising on operational standards for wildlife resource values consistent with BPL’s multiple use management objectives, implementing projects for the enhancement of wildlife habitats, and working cooperatively with BPL to balance goals of timber and wildlife management. Preference will be given to those that have strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as hands on experience directly related to development and implementation of wildlife habitat management or restoration.

- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in a natural sciences field -AND- six (6) months of biological related experience. Comparable work experience may be substituted for education requirements on a year-for-year basis.
