Performs maintenance work on equipment and facilities. Assists biologists and other professionals in the execution of their duties. Interacts with public as assigned by supervisors. Learns to operate heavy and technical equipment at fish hatcheries and wildlife management areas. Learns to collect data concerning fish and wildlife and to prepare reports. Assist in the performance of soil and water tests and plants and cultivates agricultural crops to serve as food for wildlife. Assists in the creation and/or restoration of terrestrial and aquatic habitat through environmentally accepted construction and development practices. Assists in the identification and marking of boundaries of habitat and department held lands.

Experience with heavy equipment. Experience running chainsaws. Knowledge of tree identification. Knowledge of forest management practices.
