Flamingo Gardens is a non-profit animal sanctuary and rehabilitation facility. We take in injured animals and release them if possible. If they cannot be released we give them a permanent home. We are home to large and small mammals, reptiles and birds. We are looking for summer and fall interns. This is an unpaid internship but if done through your school you may receive college credit. On a daily basis you will help the keepers clean enclosures, prepare diets, provide enrichment, assist with operant conditioning, perform maintenance on enclosures, and help with injured animals that come in.
Preferably someone who is seeking a degree relating to animal care (Environmental Science, Biology, Zoology, Animal Science etc.).
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to work outside in South Florida weather.
Must work well with others.
Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
Must be able to take direction and follow instructions.
