Description
Working collaboratively with Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LMNRA), the Outdoor Leadership Academy is recruiting an intern to assist with development and completion of resource education programs and projects, including a wide range of formal and informal public and school-based education programs and projects. These will include hikes, lectures, demonstrations, field trips, workshops and activities. Schedule: Member will work a five day schedule, 8:00am-5:00pm, requiring weekends and holidays to accommodate presentations and special events. Primary Responsibilities: Essential tasks and duties ● Facilitate youth education and outreach; duties include: implementation of programs, lesson plans, and learning modules for youth education programs, schedule programs with local school groups, present materials to student groups and collect data associated with attendees, and educational impacts of presented lessons; ● Develop and conduct presentations to volunteer groups about natural resource management practices within the recreation area; ● Provide community members, visitors, and local constituents with information on park resources, conservation and ecologically sound practices as well as the laws, rules, and regulations developed to protect park resources; ● Research scientific, historical, and technical resources to create interpretive programs using a variety of interpretive techniques Secondary responsibilities: additional tasks and duties that are preferential but secondary ● Collect field data to maintain documentation of activities ● Assist staff on developing and modifying outreach materials Related Responsibilities: ● Participate in trainings provided by Lake Mead NRA staff and community partners ● Serve as a front line representative to partners for the National Park Service ● Meet with Host Site Supervisor on a regular basis
