These positions primarily conduct field sampling and evaluations for invasive species and noxious weeds. Duties include collecting plankton samples for early detection of invasive dreissenid mussels, surveying waterways for aquatic noxious weeds (Eurasian watermilfoil, flowering rush), evaluating in-water herbicide applications (herbicide residuals, dissolved oxygen, treatment efficacy), supporting watercraft inspection station operations, visiting properties to evaluate grasshopper and Mormon cricket complaints, maintaining equipment (hot wash units) and other duties as assigned. Regional fieldwork travel spans Boundary County (Kootenai River) to Idaho County (Salmon River). Must be enthusiastic about physical, outdoor fieldwork.
Qualifications: Good communication skills Attention to detail Adaptability to various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind) Comfort with working in and around water and muddy shorelines Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to crawl underneath watercraft for inspections Availability for intermittent evenings, weekends, or long hours Usage of state vehicle Desired Qualifications: Aquatic biology, ecology or field inspection experience Pressure washer experience Motorboat operation and safety knowledge Duration: June to October Compensation: Starting wage is $12.50/hour non-benefited Location: Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint To Apply: You can apply online or by submitting a paper application.
