- The Bart Laboratory at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has an immediate opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Laboratory Technician. The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists to develop improved varieties of cassava through genome editing. For more information about our research program, please visit our webpage. This is initially a mid-level position, meaning that successful applicants are expected to arrive with some relevant experience. However, project-specific training will be provided, and expansion of skills is expected and encouraged. Promotional opportunities are available with additional experience. Responsibilities: Performing basic molecular biology techniques such as isolating DNA / RNA and plasmids, running gels, performing polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Real-Time Quantitative Reverse Transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) Plant tissue culture transformation and line maintenance Greenhouse-based plant growth Other duties as assigned Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Demonstrated aptitude for organization and multitasking Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment Demonstrated record keeping and communication skills Live the Danforth Center values: Collaboration, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity & Respect, Environmental Sustainability, and Stewardship
- Qualifications
- Qualifications: Associate’s degree with 3-5 years of experience, B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related discipline with 1-3 years of experience, or relevant Master’s degree.
