Description
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Land Survey Technician to assist with Land Survey related assignments around the State of Wyoming. The Land Survey Technician will support the Department Surveyor and Engineers by helping with various tasks related to construction, water rights and cadastral projects. These projects include survey duties on Wyoming Game and Fish Commission owned lands and Wyoming Game and Fish Department managed Public Access Areas, located across the state. Extensive travel is required with outdoor, overnight stays. Perform and document topographic, cadastral, construction and water rights surveys. Performs survey tasks such as drive stakes, hubs, hold tapes, hold rod, and instrument operation. Performs minor surveying computations such as slopes, areas, volumes, cuts and fills, etc. Ensures that proper equipment and supplies are loaded and in good working condition. Serves as a technical resource for other employees; attends and completes all designated training sessions in order to maintain required certifications. Communicates both internally and externally regarding project information and courses of action/consequences, on smaller projects. Oversee smaller projects and/or components of larger projects. Performs and documents research including research of water rights records, BLM/GLO records and title searches. Maintain and operate GPS and Total Station equipment.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to those with an associate’s degree or working toward a bachelor’s degree, **Must have a valid driver's license. KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of surveying. Knowledge of survey methods & ability to apply such as uploading & downloading survey files. Knowledge of construction inspection which includes interpretation of plans and specifications. Knowledge of documentation of project records. Knowledge of communication with supervisors and contractors. Knowledge of working outdoors and a variety of weather conditions. Knowledge and ability to perform complicated computer calculations. Knowledge of CAD and GIS. Knowledge of computers and calculators. Knowledge of engineering computations/formulas. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None - See "Preferences" NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Extended stays in the outdoors. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. The position will work outside in all weather conditions. Requires strength and stamina to work in extreme outdoor conditions and pack heavy supplies to remote locations. Must be able to effectively and safely operate trucks, trailers, UTVs, ATVs, and power tools. Extensive travel.
