The Tennessee Aquarium is searching for an Animal Care Specialist II with lemur experience, including training and restraint, who has a strong understanding of lemur behavior to participate in the care, husbandry, training, exhibition, and programming of a varied collection of animals.

Daily care of assigned animal areas including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, training and health assessment
Proactively and routinely engage Aquarium visitors with formal and informal educational presentations
Assist in the supervision of volunteer horticulture and animal staff
Attend staff meetings and develop and maintain professional ties in other institutions
Maintain records and submit reports as necessary
Assist in the identification and acquisition of plants and animals from other facilities, suppliers, or field collection
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment used in area of responsibility
Participate in cross-functional activities such as tours or educational programs for guests, members, media, education staff, docents, etc.
Participate with inter-departmental needs regarding safety, publications, parties, etc.
Perform work in a manner that fosters the Aquarium's mission, core values and service standards

Bachelor's degree in biology,zoology horticulture, botany, or the equivalent of a degree in experience
Minimum of 18 months experience in a related field
Strong knowledge of the practices and principles of animal husbandry and horticulture in a zoological institution or botanical garden setting and in botanical/zoological mixed species exhibits
Knowledge of and skills in animal husbandry and plant culture
Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player
Ability to work in wet, hot, cold, small, and/or odorous conditions; lift/carry 50 pounds; climb ladders
