Job duration: March 20 till May 10, 2021
Duties: Set up and maintain mist nets to capture Owls, setting nets at dusk with regular net checks till dawn, except inclement weather. Keep legible records for all birds banded (date, time, measurements, age and sex). Must write blog report on MSRW website, minimum 2 times per week; write end of season report on activities and Owls captured. Owl species include, mostly NSWO, some LEOW, possible BDOW, GHOW, ESOW and BOOW
Lead Bander must have experience using mist nets to capture, extract, and band Owls. Experience record keeping, handling and banding raptors, particularly owls. Experience identifying owls, taking measurements & using Pyle guide to age and sex owls. Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand cold working conditions.
Assistant bander must have experience using mist nets to capture and extract birds. Experi ence identifying and banding birds using Pyle guide. Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand cold working conditions.
Both must have reliable transportation.
