Description
We are searching for a technician to lead field work implementing IoT technologies for conservation at Los Amigos field station, Peru. The project aims to install a IoT network on over-canopy towers and use it to stream data from animal tracking devices, camera traps, and other conservation technologies. This position will lead the testing and installation phases of the project, and work with students and other team members for implementation, including animal tagging and tracking. The candidate should have experience implementing technologies in the field, and be comfortable working in remote field sites. This person will contribute to peer review publications describing the system and the ecological discoveries made with it. Experience with data management, GIS, and remote sensing are also helpful. The candidate should be a good communicator in English, and ideally also Spanish.
Qualifications
A BS in a related field is required, a MS or PhD is preferred. The position will start as soon as possible and is presently funded for 1.5 years.
