- Description
- We offer internships each semester (fall, spring and summer) on an ongoing basis. Gulf Specimen Marine Lab is a public aquarium, marine life educational facility, biological supply to universities and aquariums for research and educational purposes only and a sea turtle hospital/rehab center. The Aquarist Internship program is an on the job type training that explores biological supply, aquarium husbandry, marine life educational programs, and sea turtle rehabilitation. Our goal is to expose interns to all aspects of the operations of the aquarium and prepare them for their chosen career path. Internships typically last one semester and are counted for class credit if approved by your school. Interns are required to come in two days a week, 9am-5pm.
- Qualifications
- We offer internships each semester (fall, spring and summer) on an ongoing basis. We're looking for applicants who have the most knowledge and experience in our areas of operations: marine life educational tours, biological supply to universities and aquariums for educational purposes, public aquarium and sea turtle rehabilitation. Ideal applicants would have experience in: conducting educational tours, working with children, husbandry of saltwater aquariums, knowledge of local marine life especially invertebrates or experience working on boats, are/have been in a marine biology program and/or taken any courses in or related to marine biology.
