- Looking for a job that gets you out on the ocean? MarineLab is seeking seasonal Marine Science Instructors for their education center in Key Largo, FL. At the waterfront facility, Marine Science Instructors lead student groups, 5th grade through high school, in discovery adventures via a blend of ecology discussions, hands-on investigations, and snorkeling field observations. Duties of the position include leading snorkeling field trips in both inshore and offshore habitats; supervising students in the water; serving as a mate on our Coast Guard inspected vessels; teaching various marine science labs and lessons; and assisting with maintenance of boats, labs and equipment. The seasonal positions will run from January 3rd-August 16th, 2022. Benefits include a salary of $325/week, paid training, shared onsite housing, some meals, WiFi access, and experience at the helm of our 25 ft vessels. There is a high potential for future employment with our organization. Instructors must have a BA/BS degree; enjoy interacting with children and youth; experience with in-water supervision, teaching, and boating; and have an enthusiastic, outgoing personality. ** Staff safety is of utmost importance; we will be following all CDC guidelines in relation to COVID-19 **
- Qualifications
- -Bachelor’s degree in a life science (or education degree with marine science experience) -Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR certified -Knowledge of tropical/subtropical marine habitats; experience working within tropical/subtropical marine habitats preferred -Teaching experience with students in 5th grade through high school -Boating experience -Enthusiasm for sharing your passion for marine science with students Send a completed application form AND resume to Rachel Carlson.
