Description
This project is a collaborative effort at University of Georgia (UGA) involving scientists from the Deer Laboratory in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources and instructional designers from the Office of Online Learning. We are recruiting a student to pursue of Master of Natural Resources Degree (MNR, non-thesis) to study active learning through development of podcasts by undergraduate and graduate students. The study involves developing and conducting a 1-credit split-level guided study course primarily for undergraduate students in the fisheries and wildlife major and graduate students in wildlife science. The MNR student will have primary responsibility for developing and conducting the course and development of a scientific manuscript about the concept, all under the supervision of the principal investigators. The MNR student will have additional teaching assistant responsibilities during Fall 2022.
Qualifications
Applicants should have an expressed interest in wildlife ecology and management as well as teaching, communications, and applied research. Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to wildlife biology or related scientific fields. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree GPA >3.0, and GRE combined verbal and quantitative scores >300. The student will join a cohesive team of graduate research assistants investigating various aspects of wildlife ecology and management (http://www.ugadeerresearch.org). Because the project will require extensive work with students, the MNR student must be very comfortable with communication, both in-person and via technologies. Funding is available for one year and the student is expected to complete the MNR degree during 2022. In-person work at UGA is required.
