The Biology Master’s Program at the University of Central Missouri is recruiting graduate students for the Spring 2020 semester. Financial support, in the form of stipend and tuition waiver are available for multiple teaching assistantship positions. Support through faculty secured research grants is also available in some cases. The UCM program offers two tracks towards degree completion, with students in the thesis track responsible for completing an original research project, while students in the non-thesis track are responsible for conducting and writing a literature review. Biology MS students will have full access to equipment and facilities operated by School of Natural Sciences (i.e., Agriculture, Biology, and Chemistry). These resources include recently updated laboratories dedicated to research in chemistry, molecular biology, and wildlife biology, an R-Class animal care facility, two greenhouses, two farms, department vehicles/boat, multiple curated collections, and numerous pieces of specialized equipment that are required to produce publishable results in today’s scientific literature. Graduate students have the opportunity to conduct laboratory experiments, field research, or a combination. UCM Faculty members maintain professional and academic collaborations in their field of study, and this creates a network utilized to facilitate student transition from graduate school to their next career position.
