The Ausband Lab at The University of Idaho is hiring a technician to help conduct a mesocarnivore survey in southern Idaho from July 21- September 8, 2021. Technician will survey for mesocarnivores in southern Idaho by deploying cameras and lure. Technicians will work under the supervision of a lead technician and will likely tent camp while in the field. Field schedule is 8 days on/6 days off. Salary is approximately $1,760 month and is based on 40 hours of work at $8/hr + 10 hours of work at an overtime pay rate of $12/hr.
Valid driver’s license, get along well with others in a field setting, with or without reasonable accommodations hike 8-10 miles per day for 8 days in a row, interact professionally with the public, camp for extended periods of time, experience navigating using a GPS and map in remote settings, experience with 4x4 trucks and driving safely in rugged conditions, ability to follow a rigid protocol and record detailed data in a field setting, experience entering data into spreadsheets or databases, ability to make decisions in the field when unable to contact a supervisor.
