Mountain Plover Field Technician-Texas

The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking one field technician to assist with Mountain Plover surveys during the non-breeding season January-February 2019 in Texas. The purpose of the research is to estimate the number of Mountain Plovers in Texas during the winter, increase our understanding of habitat relationships, and inform management strategies during the non-breeding season in Texas. Primary responsibilities will be to conduct distance sampling surveys on driving routes in southern and western Texas and to enter data collected on the surveys. Surveys will be conducted from mid-January to late February 2019.
Experience with surveys of Mountain Plovers and distance sampling techniques is desirable. Applicant must be recent graduate or enrolled in a graduate degree program and have a valid U.S. driver’s license. We offer a competitive hourly wage, a vehicle, and travel expenses.
