One graduate research assistantship (Master’s in Entomology) at the University of Idaho available starting spring or summer 2023. Research project will focus on understanding the role of thrips, aphids, and other insect vectors in the transmission of viruses in alfalfa and effects on yield and quality. We recently found a new virus in alfalfa and are working on clarifying its epidemiology. Additional opportunities will be available to acquire entomological experience in other research and extension activities in potato, sugar beet, and other field crops. Student will be based at the Kimberly Research & Extension Center, in the heart of agricultural production in south-central Idaho. Classes can be taken through the main campus via videoconference.
