A graduate assistantship is available at the MS or PhD level in Louisiana State University’s (LSU) Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences (DOCS) starting in 2019 (start date flexible). The successful applicant will work on evaluating recreational fisheries catch data from a mobile self-reporting app. Catch data will be analyzed, interpreted, and compared to other methods of recreational fisheries catch reporting for sport fishes in Louisiana. The work will be done in collaboration with state agencies. Additionally, there exists the strong possibility to couple the analytical work with field and/or lab work and other questions, depending on student motivations and interest.
