Description
Funded MS position in behavioral ecology of Amazonian birds. Research sites in Peruvian Amazon. Assistantship offered through ForestFearLab at California State University Long Beach. The position will be evaluating the production and use of alarm and safety calls in Amazonian birds. The work will require fieldwork involving playback experiments to focal species. Prior experience conducting behavioral observations in the field with birds, the use of sound software, and/or a strong statistical background is desirable. Coursework and data analysis will take place at Cal State Long Beach, however the position will require summer fieldwork in hot and humid conditions in the Peruvian Amazon- while this position does not require the applicant to be a field biologist, comfort working and enjoying the outdoors would be desirable. Working conditions will require work at remote field stations. The applicant will be working closely with a team of Peruvian and U.S. field biologists so getting along well with others in close quarters is desirable. Interested individuals should send me an email to ari.martinez@csulb.edu with the following: 1.
