Description
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking to fill a Natural Resource Program Coordinator position within the Fisheries Bureau at our Headquarters in Boise. The current opening is an Anadromous Fish Specialist. General Information: •This announcement will be used to fill the current opening and it may also be used to fill future Natural Resource Program Coordinators within the Fisheries Bureau. •We offer a competitive benefits package which includes excellent medical, dental and vision insurance. General Responsibilities (all positions): •Coordinate and implement an in-state fishery management program and recommend needed research. •Prepares and proposes modifications to fishery management plans. •Coordinates fish regulation development with regional staff. •Develops fish research needs and coordinates project reviews, work plan priorities, and in-year adjustments. •Responds to information requests from internal and external customers. •Identifies problems and recommends solutions to increase angling opportunity. •Represents department and State of Idaho at various meetings and conferences with federal agencies, Native American tribes and other states regarding resident or anadromous fishery resources. •Testifies at hearings and participates in media interviews. Specific Responsibilities –Anadromous Fish Specialist: •Coordinate Columbia River Policy issues with Northwest Power and Conservation Council, NOAA Fisheries, State Fishery Staff and Tribal Fishery staff. Including program objectives, indictor reporting, budgeting, project reviews etc. •Review and provide technical input on documents and plans for anadromous fish management. •Administer Idaho State anadromous fish research permit program. •Coordinate Anadromous Fisheries incidental impact reporting for ESA listed fish. •Coordinate with state, federal and tribal fishery management agencies on conservation and enhancement activities for salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River Basin. •Coordinate state-tribal fishery team to prepare run reconstruction for Snake River steelhead fisheries. •Provide reviews and comments on ESA recovery plans, biological opinions and National Environmental Policy Act documents related to anadromous fish habitat and management. •Responsible for budget tracking and development.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: (This qualification is required for all Natural Resource Program Coordinators at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.) •Considerable knowledge in Fish Management and/or Fishery Research. Minimum Qualification Specialty Areas: (These qualifications are required for a Natural Resource Program Coordinator - Fisheries openings at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.) •Considerable experience managing fisheries-related projects. •Experience with data management and manipulation including databases and spreadsheets, and statistical analysis of fisheries-related data. •Experience writing technical reports, or peer reviewed publications on fisheries-related topics. •Some knowledge of the Endangered Species Act and its implementation. Desirable Qualifications: (These qualifications are not required, however if you have related background it may increase your rating.) •Experience working with internal teams, multi-agency teams, or other collaborative groups to accomplish fisheries-related objectives. •Experience making oral presentation to groups on fisheries-related topics.
