Blue Valley Ranch is recruiting a natural resource technician to assist staff biologist with monitoring surveys and research on a variety of topics. Primary duties of the position will include, but are not limited to, conducting standardized stream habitat and backpack electrofishing surveys, marking of fish via PIT tags, maintaining PIT-tag interrogators and water quality stations, assisting with fish habitat restoration projects including reclamation, evaluating fish for diseases, assisting with fish stocking, data entry, data management, and analysis. Secondary duties will include monitoring forest treatment plots, evaluating browse effect on timber regeneration, maintaining photo-point database, conducting waterfowl population surveys, implementing moist-soil management techniques in wetland habitats, establishing and maintaining food plots for wildlife, and treating invasive weeds. Successful applicants will also be expected to readily assist other ranch programs such as irrigation, equestrian, livestock, hay production, guest services, and guiding.
Must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and be working towards or have a Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited university in the fields of Fisheries, Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Rangeland Management, Wetland Sciences, or closely related field.
