- Job Summary: Under general supervision, this position will research grant opportunities, write, and coordinate grant proposals for statewide forestry projects. This position will also ensure compliance with Federal and State grant requirements, perform field checks on funded projects, provide guidance to external grant recipients, verify documentation, and assist with reporting of accomplishments. The position will be responsible for grant application preparation, project grant management, vendor/grantee oversight, data collection, and project tracking. This is a grant funded position. Job Duties: • Research grant opportunities, write, and coordinate grant proposals/applications for statewide forestry projects. • Grant application preparation, project grant management, vendor/grantee oversight, data collection, and project tracking. • Accurately manage and maintain a large portfolio of grant projects and ensure compliance with Federal and State grant requirements. • Perform field checks on funded projects, provide guidance to external grant recipients, verify documentation, and assist with reporting of accomplishments. • Maintain and prepare financial and project reports and collect critical information needed to account for funding purposes. • Other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: • Grant writing and project proposal development. • Federal and state statutes/laws/regulations and Agency Standard policies and procedures applicable to the areas of assignment. • Cooperative grant systems compliance and chronicling Inter-agency agreements. • Current accepted methods, procedures, and techniques used in forestry, natural resource management and related applicable environmental science. Skills in: • Strong grant writing skills. • Interpersonal communication and problem solving methods. • Public speaking and presentation. • Practical management skills. • Effective report writing. Ability to: • Work independently and/or collectively with colleagues, clients and unit. • Adapt to changing environments and new techniques. • Plan and organize work efficiently. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships. • Communicate technical information and instruction in simple written or oral terms. • Travel within the state with some overnight stay. • Walk in a variety of terrains and weather. Selective Preference(s): Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Forestry or a related field. At least two years experience in grant writing, proposal/application development, and project management experience relating to forestry or natural resource management. Pre-Employment Requirements: A valid Arizona Driver's License. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
