Integrated Environmental Solutions, LLC (IES), a small woman-owned business located in McKinney, Texas, is currently seeking an entry to mid-level natural resources ecologist. IES was established in 2003 and is currently celebrating 19 successful years. IES is an EEO employer with a diverse staff. Our natural resources staff is currently 55 percent female. Our staff is young and motivated, and continually growing. We are seeking an equally adept and motivated natural resources ecologist to perform waters of the United States delineations, tree surveys, urban tree health assessments, protected species habitat assessments, vegetation community mapping, and technical writing in support of field assessments. Growth opportunities are available in Section 404 permitting, tree risk assessment in urban forestry situations, and in NEPA environmental documentation. Relocation reimbursement can be negotiated. This is a full-time, in-office position with primarily local travel in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Additional benefits include medical and dental coverage, generous paid-time off, a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan, and professional development opportunities.
IES is seeking a full-time, innovative, self-starting, client-oriented natural resources ecologist that is capable of working in a team environment. Position includes participating in both outdoor, physical activities, as well as in-office technical reporting. Projects are fast-paced requiring successful candidates to be flexible, focused, self-motivated, and proficient.
Typical projects that this candidate may be involved with include, but are not limited to:
• Waters of the United States, including wetlands, delineations;
• Protected species habitat/community assessments;
• Tree surveys/inventories and tree risk/health assessments;
• Phase I Environmental Site Assessments; and
• NEPA-related environmental documentation, as well as general technical writing.
Since this opportunity requires activities in the outdoors, the position requires the ability to function in conditions such as hot and cold temperatures for extended periods, traversing natural habitats with limited physical access, and long-distance hiking daily. These activities provide for a vast array of professional experience in the natural resources consulting field while IES will continually provide focused, on-the-job training as well as opportunities for growth in multiple specializations over time. Required skills and proficiencies typically include the following:
• Geographic positioning system (GPS) operations;
• ArcGIS desktop or ArcGIS Pro software for map development;
• Microsoft Office proficiency across multiple applications; and
• Basic construction tools (i.e., hammer, measuring tape, etc.)
Office hours are frequently flexible with 40+ hour work weeks and benefits are generous.
A bachelor’s degree in an applicable field is required, at minimum. We are currently seeking applicants with forestry backgrounds, but will accept Ecology, Rangeland Ecology, Natural Resources, Wildlife, Fisheries, and Environmental Studies with heavy field practicum. Proficiency with GPS equipment and ArcGIS is beneficial.
