Palo Alto County Conservation Board is accepting applications for a full time Naturalist. This full time position will be under the direction of the County Conservation Board Director. The selected candidate will develop, coordinate and present environmental education and interpretive programs to all schools in Palo Alto County and the general public on a regular basis; provide resource information to teachers and the public; promote fundraising activities for EE projects; apply for grants to obtain program funding; plan and develop multi-media materials, informational brochures, displays, exhibits, flyers, news releases, and newsletters to promote the EE programming; implements management, volunteer and visitor service duties of the nature center; assist with maintenance of the nature center building/grounds and recycling shed; cares for live animals, supervises seasonal interns in the performance of programming tasks; provides a positive public image for the Conservation Board; maintains environmental education materials and equipment; responsible for development and presentation of all aspects of the interpretive program including, but not limited to summer camps, general public programs, school programs, special events, county fairs and parades; all other duties as assigned.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Must have the ability to lift, pull, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Candidate must have graduated from an accredited four year college with a bachelor’s degree in natural science or related field. Experience in development and presentation of environmental education and interpretive programs preferred.
