Your opportunity The Nature Conservancy and Utah State University-Blanding are excited to announce NATURE (Native American Tribes Upholding Restoration & Education), a 7-week internship opportunity for undergraduate students with tribal backgrounds. This program seeks to bridge the gap between the science and practice of sustainable land management on the Colorado Plateau by mentoring and training a small cadre of interns to work at the interface of scientific research and land management. Interns will work closely with Indigenous and non-Indigenous scientists and mentors and will receive essential training in areas including rangeland and forest ecology, climate change, water resources, soil science, GIS, and remote sensing. Interns will receive a $4,200 stipend. Housing will be provided throughout the program. Extended application deadline: March 31, 2023
Qualifications
Applicants should have a tribal background and currently be enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program. Interns will live in Blanding, UT, Moab, UT, and/or Durango, CO throughout the 7-week program and will need to commit full-time for the program's duration. It won't be possible to have other commitments (jobs, classes) during the program. Interns will work closely with mentors to develop a capstone project, and will present their project in a final presentation at the end of the program.
