Description
JOB DUTIES: Primary duty will be to assist the Nongame Bird Program Manager with research and monitoring projects. Specific duties will include a combination of 1) planning field work, 2) collecting data by conducting surveys, locating nests, and observing, capturing and safely handling birds 3) entering, managing and summarizing data, 4) assisting with the planning and coordination of program activities, and 4) interacting with and providing information to the general public.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of avian ecology and wildlife management principles, ability to work outdoors in sometimes uncomfortable conditions, ability to work independently and with others, and ability to record and maintain detailed and accurate records and databases. Field experience with birds, including threatened and endangered species, desirable. Computer skills highly desirable, in particular, experience with databases (MS Excel and Access) and familiarity with Global Positioning Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Program R or other statistics packages. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, fish or wildlife management or closely related field of biological science or equivalent experience.
