We are hiring a technician (Fish and Wildlife Technician I) at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to help us with field work and data entry for the nongame bird program. The work ratio will likely be 50% office time and 50% field time. Field work will involve assisting biologists with Peregrine Falcon monitoring, Barn Owl monitoring, Loggerhead Shrike monitoring, songbird banding, and other projects. This will be an interim position (length- 6 months) and will be stationed out of Frankfort, KY.
Housing is not provided. A vehicle is provided for field work. This position may involve working long/irregular hours in hot weather. Overnight travel may be required.

The preferred candidate will have an interest in birds and will have or be pursuing a related degree in wildlife, natural resources, ecology or the biological sciences. Experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and ArcGIS is also preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Experience with mist-netting songbirds and identifying raptors and songbirds, will come in handy in this position.
