Description
Technician: University of Missouri Northern bobwhite winter survival and habitat selection in Missouri Description: The University of Missouri and the Missouri Department of Conservation are conducting a study on how land management practices affect bobwhite population dynamics in the eastern tallgrass prairie. We are looking to hire one technician for October 2017 to January 2018 to track birds using radio-telemetry, capture and tag bobwhite coveys, and take vegetation measurements to characterize habitat. Work will be conducted on five conservation areas in Missouri. Missouri winters can be cold or mild (i.e., 15-50° F). Most of our work will involve early mornings and late evenings, extensive walking, and a variable schedule through the season. Weekend work will be required at times. I am looking for a technician willing to maintain a positive attitude and collect quality data. Prerequisites: Experience with radio-telemetry and/or upland game species is preferred. Salary: $10.00 per hour, 40 hours per week, housing and field vehicles provided.
