Description
Etegrity Environmental Consultants LLC is looking for field biologists to conduct spotted owl surveys in western and central Oregon. Employment is from March through the end of August of 2018. Surveyor must be comfortable working in remote forested areas and navigating mountainous terrain. Although electronics make it easy to navigate, basic map and compass navigation is required. Applicants must be able to hike off road in steep, forested terrain. Clear, accurate notes and communication are also critical for quality and efficient surveys. Work schedule is dependent on the protocol and observations. Night and Day surveys are likely and may require weekend work to meet protocol schedules and deadlines. Vehicles will be provided, or employees driving personal vehicles will be reimbursed. Qualifications
Applicants for surveyor positions must have at least one year of biological survey experience or have or be working toward a 4 year college degree. Spotted owl experience is strongly preferred, but may not be required if applicant has avian field experience. Successful applicants must be; Comfortable working independently or in teams - detailed in data collection, communication and scheduling to meet protocol requirements - Able to operate 4WD vehicles and navigate forest roads - Good vision and hearing - Good physical fitness and the ability to hike off trail if required - Excellent field skills: compass, GPS, map reading skills, hiking in backcountry terrain in the dark and/or inclement weather.
