Assist in the implementation of a wide variety of water quality improvement projects, including the installation of stormwater best management practices on lakeshore properties, assisting lake associations with their water quality monitoring programs, survey for invasive species and sedimentation sources, perform Class IV road erosion inventory surveys, and assess properties for the Lake Wise program. This will be done as a 900 hour ECO AmeriCorps member, with all of the responsibilities that entails, with the NorthWoods Stewardship Center as a host site.
- Must work effectively both alone and as part of a team with people of all sorts - Must have good written and verbal communication skills - Must be willing and able to educate self and other about water quality, riparian and aquatic habitats, and conservation - Must have a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate motor vehicles - Must be willing and able to complete tasks outdoors in all seasons and all weather conditions - Must be willing and able to complete strenuous physical activities, such as digging, hiking, and lifting heavy objects - Must possess attention to detail and be able to produce accurate assessments - Must be willing and able to complete regular office-based duties relating to service projects, including email and phone communications, record-keeping, and actively participating in meetings - Must represent NorthWoods and the ECO AmeriCorps program with professionalism
