Description
Excited to announce a university-wide, tenure-track cluster hire at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). UTA is seeking the best talent from a wide variety of disciplines, from liberal arts to STEM. We, the Biology Department, are eager to leverage this opportunity for growth. We’re recruiting excellent researchers who can serve as mentors and role models to our diverse student body. You can find the job posting and instructions for applying here: https://uta.peopleadmin.com/postings/12931 In addition to submitting your official application via the link above, please also send a copy to the biology committee at biologysearch@uta.edu. There is no application deadline, but application reviews are ongoing. We recommend that you apply as early as possible. One of UTA's goals is to increase the representation of historically underrepresented faculty, including underrepresented minorities and women in STEM. About UTA: UT Arlington is an R1-ranked research university, the second-largest institution in the University of Texas System, and the third fastest-growing public university in the nation, with over 42,000 students. We are a Hispanic-serving institution and rank #8 in the nation for ethnic diversity. The Department (http://www.uta.edu/biology) offers access to numerous resources including: · state-of-the-art labs · a recently renovated and updated Animal Care Facility · the Amphibian and Reptile Diversity Research Center with the largest herpetological research collection in Texas (www.uta.edu/biology/ardrc) · a Life Science Core Facility (lscf.uta.edu) · the North Texas Genome Center, with the capacity to sequence over 10,000 human genomes annually (northtexasgenomecenter.com) · the Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies – a major partnership between UT Arlington and Shimadzu Scientific Instruments that offers extensive resources for imaging, proteomics and analytical chemistry (www.uta.edu/sirt) · partnership with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (www.brit.org) · the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC; www.tacc.utexas.edu) More information about UTA can be found at (www.uta.edu/about). About Arlington: Arlington is situated in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, affording access to numerous restaurants, microbreweries, and entertainment opportunities (museums, theatre, music, sports). While opportunities to appreciate these are reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, many restaurants and museums have re-opened for outdoor and/or socially distanced visits. The city of Arlington alone has 82 public parks, including River Legacy Parks, a 1,300-acre oasis on the Trinity River in the heart of north Arlington. Arlington is the home of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Texas Rangers Ballpark, and Six Flags Over Texas. The Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) airport -- one the largest and most connected airports for both domestic and international travel -- is also only 15 miles from campus. The DFW area is one of the most diverse in the country, and the cost of living is relatively low for a major metropolitan area. More information on the city of Arlington can be found at (www.experiencearlington.org).
