This is technical and administrative work performing positive public relations, visitor services, enforcement of park rules, natural resource interpretation and protection, environmental education programs and presentations and general grounds and building maintenance duties at the City's parks.
As a Park Ranger, you will:
• Act as a public information resource; answer public questions, and interact with park visitors in a positive, diplomatic and respectful manner.
• Enforce park rules, regulations, and procedures
• Lead park tours and assist with environmental education programs.
• Patrol park grounds and facilities and perform minor general maintenance, cleaning, and repair
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and two (2) years of customer service experience entailing direct contact with the public, preferably in parks, environmental education, nature operations or natural resource management, recreation or education.
One (1) of the following may be used to substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience:
An Associate degree with major coursework in environmental or natural science, education, recreation, biology, wildlife management or related subject
or an Environmental Education Certification (or equivalent)
or the Florida Master Naturalist Course and Basic Certification by the National Alliance for Interpretation (NAI) (or equivalent).
