Description
Environment for the Americas coordinates diversity internship programs for many organizations. Our goals are to provide science-based internships and other career-building experiences for racially and ethnically diverse undergraduate, graduate, and recently graduated students to increase relevance, diversity and inclusion in national parks, national forests, and other public lands and natural areas. Job Description: The intern will compose an unprecedented research collection of documents, maps, photographs, reminiscences, historic newspaper accounts, and contemporary interviews relevant to a significant battle of the Plains Indian Wars from July, 1865. Extensive but fragmented documentation of the battle is known to exist in various locations in the west and in several university archives across the nation; however, there is no single repository for all known materials of importance that can inform BLM managers and interpreters about the battle in a credible, comprehensive way. The interns collection will serve internal and external researchers, land managers and interpreters for decades to come, and is vitally important to an imminent Environmental Assessment of the battle site. The BLM is looking for a capable , self-reliant and detailed oriented intern to participate in this project. Start/End Date: This an 11 week internship running from the beginning of June to mid August. Apply at https://www.environmentamericas.org/apply/ .
