The Plant and Soil Science Department at the University of Kentucky (https://pss.ca.uky.edu/front) is recruiting a motivated Ph.D. graduate student in the Soil Chemistry Lab. The candidate will engage in a research project associated with biological and abiotic transformations of ammonium in soils using a combination of wet chemical and imaging/spectroscopic techniques to contribute novel information to our understanding of the nitrogen cycle.
The applicant must have a B.S. and M.S. degree in soil science, geological science, chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience, strong academic performance, and excellent written communication skills. The student will be expected to publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and participate in professional meetings. Interested applicants should send their CV, an unofficial transcript, a one-page cover letter describing your qualifications for the position, and contact information for three references to Dr. Chris Matocha (firstname.lastname@example.org). Screening will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
