- The Delmore Lab at the University of Texas A&M is looking for a PhD student to join our group in Sept 2023. We study speciation using hybrid zones and work at both the micro and macroevolutionary scale. One of our research stream focuses on behaviour - how variation in behavioural traits contributes to speciation and the genetic basis of these traits. Two of the behaviors we study are seasonal migration and courtship behavior in thrushes and hummingbirds, respectively. We conduct work at all levels - in the field, using ecological modelling, genetics and bioinformatics approaches. Students wishing to conduct research in any of these settings are welcome to apply. Students can pursue degrees in Biology (https://www.bio.tamu.edu/), EEB (https://www.eeb.tamu.edu) or Genetics (https://www.genetics.tamu.edu). All of these programs have collaborative, enthusiastic and supportive environment. They include students from many different international backgrounds and you will be able to develop knowledge in evolution and substantial genomic and computational skills while you're here.
