PhD research assistantship in the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at LSU. The position will focus on movement ecology of reef fishes at natural and/or artificial habitats in the Gulf of Mexico. Completion of doctoral degree will include relevant coursework and a research dissertation that will be developed. Research will focus on questions related to fish habitat use, connectivity, behavioral response to stressors, diet, and/or other ecological or fisheries topics.
Start date: Summer or Fall 2022
MS in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Fisheries Science, or related field
Experience/comfortable working in offshore environments
Scuba Diving certification
Interest in statistics, quantitative data analysis
Interest/experience in offshore fishing
BS in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Fisheries Science, or related field is required.
GPA > 3.25
Experience working on vessels
Highly motivated and capable of working independently
