CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. Serves as a Plant Restoration Field Technician to support tasks for the Forest Enhancement Program at Naval Base Guam Telecommunications Site, Guam. The Technician will be required to work with CSU staff and Federal staff on a regular basis to meet the needs of the Forest Enhancement Program. Field support will include native seed collection, native plant salvage, assist establishing a native plant nursery, and assist operating a native plant nursery for the purpose providing native plant material for use in limestone forest enhancement projects in northern Guam.

•B.S. degree in botany, horticulture, biology, ecology or closely related science.
•1-year field or nursery experience in plant identification, restoration techniques, and or horticultural techniques.
•Ability to perform strenuous field work in rugged terrain and weather extremes without direct on-site supervision.
•Experience using GPS units for data collection.
•Be able to pass the NACI background check for a Common Access Card.
•The successful candidate must be legally eligible to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
•The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
•M.S. degree in botany, horticulture, biology, ecology or closely related science.
•More than 1-year field experience directly related to botany, horticulture, biology, ecology or closely related science.
•Greater than 6 months experience operating or working in a plant nursery.
•Greater than 6 months experience with native plants of the Pacific Islands.
•Experience using data management software, particularly MS Access.
•Competency in ArcGIS
•Experience conducting seed collections, plant propagation, transplanting, pest control using chemical and physical methods, and monitoring plant species following outplanting.
•Experience working on a military installation and working with military headquarters-level staff.
•Familiarity with DoD/Navy environmental regulations.
