Position Title: Population Genomics to Understand Relatedness of Bobcats & Ocelots Social Organization Position Description: The Feline Research Program of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications from highly motivated individuals to pursue a Ph.D. degree within a collaborative team. Students will study ocelots and bobcats using population genomics to investigate the role of relatedness and population structure with (1) intraspecific variation in movements, behavior, and social organization, (2) patterns related to major roads, urbanization, and their surrounding landscape, and (3) other topics in support of ocelot recovery. Successful applicants will be expected to be very active in publishing manuscripts in nationally and internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals and in presenting several papers at scientific conferences. Location: Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Kingsville, Texas (about 30 miles south of Corpus Christi, Texas). Research will be conducted on private ranches in southern Texas. Qualifications Required: B.S. and M.S. in ecology, wildlife science, biology, or closely related fields. A strong work ethic, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and as a productive member of a research team. Competitive applicants will ideally have coding and statistical experience in R or similar programs. Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA.
