The Florida Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit is seeking applicants for a 12-18 month post-doctoral fellow position at the University of Florida in the Wildlife Ecology and Conservation program to start in October of 2020 (or soon thereafter). The Post-doc will assist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Species Status Assessment process for a variety of species listing decisions in the south western United States. The work will primarily involve working with service biologists to develop data analyses and projection models to assess the current and future status of species under consideration for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Successful applicants will have strong statistical analysis skills and strong background in population viability modeling. The post-doc will lead the analysis of available data sets and simulation modeling for future status working closely with the USFWS to ensure that the analytical results are useful to the Species Status Assessment and service decision processes. We are looking for a quantitative ecologist with expertise in demographic estimation or simulation modeling. Applicants must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. Preferred applicants will have experience working in collaboration with managers/decision makers to develop decision relevant analyses.
