Description
The DeVries Lab at the University of Kentucky is recruiting a postdoctoral research scholar with a focus in urban entomology. Defined broadly, urban entomology encompasses a multitude of topics relating to pests found indoors and around structures. Potential research topics could include (but are not limited to) urban pest management (IPM, baiting, novel strategies), urban pest behavior (cockroach foraging, bed bug host attraction), physiology (metabolism, respiration, insecticide resistance), and health risks associated with urban pests (cockroach allergens, bed bug histamine).
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in entomology, biology, public health, or a closely related field is required. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of research productivity, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and/or grant funding. Desired qualifications include the ability to work in a team, willingness to mentor undergraduate/graduate students, and strong oral and written communication skills. Experience working with insects (specifically bed bugs and cockroaches), conducting epidemiological analysis, and/or interacting with the public is a plus.
