Year 1: $12,000 in stipend over 12 months plus up to $6,890 in scholarship to cover tuition & fees for up to 18 credit hours taken 9 per semester; students register for a zero-credit research experience course in the summer [$18,890 total]. Year 2: students fulfilling all PGRA expectations for year 1 will be eligible to receive Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) at $1,000 per month for two semesters plus up to $6,890 scholarship to cover tuition & fees for up to 18 credit hours taken 9 per semester [$15,890 total].

Description
I am recruiting a highly motivated student interested in earning an M.S. degree in the Ocean, Coastal and Earth Sciences at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) starting in Spring 2019. Interested student should want to work on a research project on impacts of global warning, aquatic hypoxia and/or environmental chemicals on molecular, biochemical and physiological responses of marine fish, shellfish (shrimp), American oyster and/or Atlantic sea urchin.
Qualifications
Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and minimum GRE scores are required (see admission requirements: (http://www.utrgv.edu/graduate/for-future-students/graduate-programs/program-requirements/ocean-coastal-and-earth-sciences-ms/index.htm). Successful candidates must demonstrate an aptitude for research and ability to work independently. The successful applicant will be expected to enroll full time in the UTRGV Ocean, Coastal, and Earth Sciences Master of Science program pursuing the thesis option.
