Seasonal employees are hired to assist the Products & Services Division from time to time to meet growth and client demand. The Seasonal Wildlife Services Technician position will last up to 4 to 5 months, depending on start date, with the possibility of an extension. Job Summary/Scope: The Seasonal Wildlife Services Technician will actively participate in the delivery of wildlife management services provided by Plateau Land & Wildlife Management via the Products & Services Division. They will work with other Products & Services Division staff to ensure work is being carried out on client properties in a productive and efficient manner. Once sufficiently trained, Seasonal Wildlife Services Technicians will work individually on client properties in addition to occasionally working in teams with other Wildlife Services Technicians. Seasonal Wildlife Services Technicians must make sound and timely decisions, be resourceful, follow through on commitments, communicate effectively, and be adaptable to different situations. They will experience a high level of client interaction and must provide exceptional customer service. Additionally, Seasonal Wildlife Services Technicians must maintain confidentiality regarding clients and client properties at all times. Seasonal Wildlife Services Technicians must be prepared to work outside normal business hours, beyond 40 hours/week, and with potentially long days. Job Responsibilities: • Wildlife management product installation including the monitoring and servicing of rainwater collection systems, wildlife feeders, songbird nesting boxes, and quail stations. • Conducting treatments for Imported Red Fire Ants. • Performing brush management by way of herbicide application or mechanical means for exotic, encroaching, invasive, and/or non-native tree and plant species. • Data collection, field documentation, and digital processing for client services performed. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) • Attention to detail, dependability and accountability • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects on deadline • Communication skills (both verbal and written/electronic): Applicant must be effective in a variety of communication styles: interpersonal, via phone, email, text, IM, and Teams/Zoom platforms. • Customer Service skills: Applicant must demonstrate the ability to engage with staff and clients in a professional manner. • Software/applications: Applicant must exhibit competency in iOS, Microsoft and Adobe programs and environments. Specialized Skills & Physical Endurance • Ability to tow and back a utility trailer utilizing mirrors. • Proficiency at loading and securing loads to utility trailers/flatbed trucks for safe transport on and off road. • Off road driving experience with four-wheel drive vehicles. • Excellent stamina: This position requires extended periods of heavy physical labor, often in irregular terrain and various extreme weather conditions. Ability to work in uncomfortable weather conditions such as triple digit heat or rain. • Able to frequently lift and transfer 50lb feed bags and move bulky products to/from utility trailer or truck bed. • Ability to handle long drive times to and from client properties. • Experience with power tools, and chainsaws. Preferred Qualifications: • First Aid/CPR/Wilderness First Aid Training Certification. • Experience with Avenza Pro, Arc GIS, Javascript.
