Description
The Department of Fish and Game, Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Learn to Fish & Hunt Programs & Outreach Specialist (Contractor Position - estimated for one year). The position is assigned to the MassWildlife Headquarters located in Westborough. Currently staff members are teleworking and will be moving to a hybrid model for a mix of remote and in-person work. The Learn to Fish & Hunt Programs & Outreach Specialist is responsible for a wide range of education and outreach activities related to MassWildlife’s Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) efforts to increase participation in hunting, fishing, and the shooting sports. This includes assisting with implementing R3 programs for new hunters and anglers, working with partners on statewide R3 efforts, and developing how-to instructional resources for new hunters and anglers. The Specialist will play an important role in helping MassWildlife engage and serve diverse audiences for fishing and hunting participation, including urban communities and people of diverse ethnic, racial, and gender identities. Duties: Assist with the administration, instruction, and promotion of R3 programs, such as the Youth Turkey Hunting Program, Learn to Fish Programs, Learn to Hunt Program, National Archery in the Schools Program, Hunter Education Program, and Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program. Develop and grow relationships with external partners in a diversity of communities across the Commonwealth and collaborate on R3 initiatives. Represent MassWildlife at events, including virtual or in-person programs, seminars, webinars, and meetings, as needed. Assist with promotion of MassWildlife programs, services, products, and events that engage new and existing audiences. Develop educational content including both program curriculum and learning resources. Deliver exceptional customer service when answering public inquiries received through email, social media, or phone calls. Evaluate areas of growth and gaps for program administration during pilot year of new event management platform Assist with ongoing marketing campaigns, including promotion of hunting and fishing. Create and edit promotional and educational hunting and fishing videos Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least three years knowledge in education, wildlife management, outdoor skills education, or communications. A Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in environmental communications, wildlife management, environmental education, communications or related fields may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
