- Description
- The Institute for Wildlife Studies is a non-profit, conservation science organization conducting programs around the world. We are seeking a motivated and talented wildlife biologist to assist in directing existing programs on San Clemente Island and helping to develop new programs in California and elsewhere. Position will be based in San Diego, California. Responsibilities include overseeing a staff of 14-20 biologists working on federally and state listed species, working closely with DoD biologists and state and federal agency staff, overseeing production of annual reports, assisting with manuscript preparation, and presenting project results at professional meetings. Job will require overnight visits to San Clemente Island twice monthly to meet with project staff, help to train new project leaders as necessary, and periodically helping with field-based work. Job will include some travel for field visits, and to attend conferences. Additional duties will include procuring supplies and assisting with logistics.
- Qualifications
- -Qualifications include an MS in wildlife biology or a related field. Applicants must be citizens of the United States or be covered under a TN NAFTA work visa. -Interest in organismal, field-based research, and research that interfaces with conservation and land management. -Experience with collaborative working relationships involving diverse stakeholders. -Scientific publication experience -Experience supervising others. -Employee must keep track of multiple projects at one time. Compensation: Starting salary is $70-85,000/year, DOE, plus health, vacation and other benefits.
