- The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR), Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, Wildlife Section is seeking an experienced and career focused individual to fill a Public Lands Coordinator Vacancy (Biologist III-Wildlife Option). This is an administrative and professional position which is responsible for managing and assisting with public lands programs statewide. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing implementation of Special Opportunity and Limited Quota hunts, coordinating Wildlife Management Area (WMA) leases, regulations, map permits, brochures, websites, large scale projects, purchases, and assisting area biologists with WMA public hunting and habitat management programs. This position, while largely autonomous in daily duties, receives oversight and programmatic guidance from the Wildlife Section Assistant Chief for Operations. Field work with exposure to inclement weather and travel, including occasional overnight stays, is required.
- Qualifications
- The position is located at the Wildlife Section Headquarters office in Montgomery, Alabama. Applicants not currently holding permanent status with DCNR as a Biologist II – Wildlife Option or Conservation Enforcement Officer - Wildlife Option must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management, Wildlife Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of professional experience in the wildlife field or a Master’s degree in Wildlife Management, Wildlife Science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of professional experience in the wildlife field. Qualified Applicants must also meet the educational requirements for certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society.
