East Texas Ranch is a privately owned high fence in the post oak savanna region of East Texas. The ranch is managed to support both native and exotic wildlife as well as cattle. We are looking for motivated recent graduates to fill two open positions at the ranch. The applicants should have a pleasant personality and ability to get along with all matter of people with different personality traits. Applicants will provide support to all aspects of the ranch and ranch general manager. The applicants may be required to supervise other employees and will be responsible for the care of equipment, farm machinery, and vehicles. The position will also work closely with other personnel including office staff, and the family members or their guests as needed. Duties include animal surveys, supplemental feeding, darting and moving animals. General ranch maintenance, including but not limited to tractor work, road work, mowing, equipment operation, prescribed fire, herbicide, some guiding, predator control, fence maintenance etc... Weekend and holiday work required on a rotational basis. Housing may be provided.
A degree in a Wildlife related field. Must have general experience and knowledge in the safe operation of farm tractors and standard farm machinery and implements, chainsaws, and other equipment. Must be capable of heavy physical work at times in inclement weather. General computer knowledge and skills required. Must have good work habits, including being effective, reliable and able to follow instructions, capable of being a self-starter. Ability to speak Spanish is desired. Previous experience with cattle is a plus. Be able to complete an investigative background check and have no criminal record.
