- Description
- 3400 acre South Texas commercial hunting and registered Beefmaster cattle operation seeking summer interns for summer of 2023. Interns will learn aspects of wildlife management to include habitat management via mechanical and chemical applications, trapping, predator control, and wildlife surveys to include quail call counts, camera trap surveys, and spotlight surveys for white-tailed deer. Working with cattle and range management strategies will also be applied. Duties will include but will not be limited to; operating heavy machinery, spraying herbicides, filling and maintaining supplemental feed stations for both wildlife and cattle, hog trapping, predator hunting/snaring, fence maintenance, and road maintenance. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
- Qualifications
- Applicants must be enrolled in wildlife or range management, environmental sciences, wildlife ecology, animal sciences or similar major at an accredited college or university. Heavy equipment operation knowledge is preferred but not required. Use of general equipment (i.e. chainsaws, lawn mowers, weedeaters, four wheelers/utv’s) is required.
