Description
This position will focus on the collection of vegetation data on the East Foundation Ranches, mainly within an 18,000-acre experimental grazing study. Data include forage utilization, forage standing crop, and vegetation structure, cover, and composition. We use grazing exclosures, double sampling, and transects with quadrats to collect data. Technicians will also be responsible for entering all data into an electronic format and ensuring its quality and accuracy. Additionally, technicians will learn to use digital software for data collection.
Qualifications
Entry level position for Juniors, seniors, or recent graduates in Range/Wildlife/Ranch Management/Natural Resources or related degree programs are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will be honest, self-motivated persons with a strong work ethic and a background in range and wildlife science. Applicants should possess strong people skills, leadership qualities, and communication abilities. These positions will require working long hours in adverse conditions. These positions will require lifting objects greater than 50 lbs. Successful candidates must maintain a valid driver’s license. Applicants are subjected to background checks. Applicants must be able to use computer software such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, in addition to basic computer skills.
