Job primarily entails surveying for seabeach amaranth and other rare beach plants. Once located fence/signage is placed around plants to protect them. Fenced areas are monitored/maintained throughout the season. Data collection and management. Coordination with towns/landowners where plants are located. Potential to help with other coastal projects, as needed. Most of the work is in the Monmouth County and Northern Ocean County area, occasionally further south.
Previous experience identifying/surveying for seabeach amaranth, an endangered beach plant. Need reliable transportation capable of transporting lightweight equipment (plastic/wooden poles ~ 5' long). Smart phone (to collect) data required. Familiarity with the northern NJ coast is a plus, but not required.
